    Canopy Competition

We have entered an exciting competition with A&S Landscape who are awarding a canopy to one lucky school. To win this fantastic prize we need to collect the highest number of votes! Please click here to vote for our school. Shade is so important for our children to enable them to stay on the playground for longer periods of time. We also want to be able to utilise our great space for exciting outdoor learning including our Collective Worship. In addition to this, after listening to our pupils, we found that a large amount of our keen readers who would love a dedicated space where they can read at break times- a canopy would provide just this.

Once you have voted don’t stop there! Please spread the message on friends, parents and supplier’s websites as well as social media to help us win!

    Happy New Year

    Dear Parents and Carers

Everyone at Our Lady of Lourdes hopes you have had a wonderful Christmas and wishes you all a Happy New Year.

The new term starts tomorrow, as planned, and we look forward to welcoming the children back to school. We have missed them! Our community is still dealing with the transmission of the virus and you will be well aware of the updated Government Guidance that has been discussed in the media.

All our staff will be completing a lateral flow test before they return to work. One of the biggest challenges we are anticipating in the coming weeks are staff absences due to isolation. We ask for your support during this time as we again navigate through a difficult period due to the ongoing pandemic.

It would help our community if children completed a lateral flow test before returning to school tomorrow. You may already be testing your children. Please report any positive cases to our office as soon as possible.

We would also strongly advise you to wear a face covering during drop off and pick up times and also leave the premises promptly. In the morning the gates will be open between 8:40 and 9:00am. Please use this 20-minute window (if you can) to minimise the number of adults on our playground at any one time. Please also take care to maintain a social distance when on the school premises, particularly at the exit point.

We will of course continue to educate your children with as little disruption as possible. Should we receive any updates locally or from central government, we will pass these on to you.

    Yours sincerely

    Christmas Message from Mr McCann

    Dear Parents and Carers

We have come to the end of a long term and the whole school community is looking forward to a well-earned rest. The prospect of Christmas cheers us and lifts our spirits, even in the midst of COVID-19 and the uncertainties that lie ahead.

Advent in school is a magical time, staff have worked extremely hard to deliver concerts and nativities reminding us all of the true reason for the season. Listening to children sing and seeing the pride in their faces when they deliver their lines, truly warms our hearts.

As my first term at Our Lady of Lourdes draws to a close, it is with humility and gratitude that I look back on the term. Thank you for welcoming me to the school community so warmly. It has been lovely getting to know you and seeing you each morning and afternoon. As we all are, I am ready for a break, however the excitement that I have for the rest of the year is immense.

Our school continues to grow with additional children starting all of the time which is a wonderful compliment and testimony to the team here. We have a number of children joining us in January and we can’t wait to welcome them into our family.

I am sure that pupils, parents and carers would like to join with me in thanking all of the staff and governors at Our lady of Lourdes for their continued tremendous hard work and commitment to the children of our school. Likewise, we the staff, governors and children would like to thank all our families for all your support. Last but in no way least, we the rest of the school community, thank our children – you are indeed some of the best children I have ever had the pleasure of working with and without a doubt the very best part of Our Lady of Lourdes!

I pray for and wish everyone peace and happiness in all homes and families during this holiday – may we all be safe and keep healthy. Wishing you all a very happy and holy Christmas! Enjoy the turkey, the mince pies, the biscuits and sweets and best of all making memories as a family.

See you all in January 2022!

    God bless

    Mr D. McCann
