Our Lady of Lourdes is a very inclusive school. We are proud to have a SEND Provision as an integral part of the school. This consists of three Resourced Bases for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder; 1J, 2R and 2H. This is a twenty four place provision  Each Base consists of a class teacher, one full time HLTA and teaching assistants, to make up a high staff to pupil ratio.

The criteria for entry are:

  • The child has a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • The child has an Education Health and Care Plan.
  • We are able to meet the children's needs appropriately

Our children are naturally very much valued as part of the whole school and are included as fully as possible in life at Our Lady of Lourdes.

We provide an environment that is safe, caring and one which promotes a meaningful, enriching and quality education. This helps each child to develop emotionally, socially and physically, as well, as academically.

The children are supported during lunch in classrooms or the dining hall and supported at playtimes and school assemblies by their specialist base staff.

Our classrooms are calm and low stimuli, with clear structure and visual cues.

The children have access to a quiet spaces and learning rooms in each class.

Part of our vision is to enable increasing independence and safe excursions to build resilience and we regularly take the children on Community Access to shops, the park, the beach etc., as well as going on many exciting and enriching school trips with them.
